Purpose and Charge
PURPOSE
The Academic Affairs Policy Coordination group serves an advisory function within the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Faculty Development.
CHARGE
Members are charged with responsibility to bring forward an agenda addressing emerging policy matters relevant to academic affairs policies and procedures, as relevant to the OU Lead On Strategic Plan (refresh), and student policies and procedures as specifically relevant to academic program onboarding, participating, engagement, progression, and completion.
At the discretion of the Vice Provost, discussion items raised by this body may be brought forward for consideration by Health Sciences or University of Oklahoma Senior Officers - including academic program directors, department chairs, Deans, and/or the Senior Vice President and Provost and relevant others in the development or revision of academic/student-related policies.
GENERAL ACTION ITEMS
- Identify and discuss emerging issues and updates to academic and student policies and procedures
- Discuss implementation and evaluation of Health Sciences academic and related-student policies
- Serve as an interprofessional academic community-of-practice for OU Health Sciences faculty/staff leaders in Academic Affairs and Student Affairs for the health professions, public health, and biomedical sciences
- Orient new faculty/staff with delegated roles and responsibilities in academic or student policies, procedures, and practices
- Identify performance metrics for planning, feedback, and evaluation of personnel serving in these roles
- Identify shared learning interests for local continuing professional development to complement or supplement discipline specific offerings
- Participate in, and contribute to, the continuing professional development of people and professional skills for effective work in this arena of responsibility
- Identify and discuss ways to provide accurate and consistent advice to academic program directors and others regarding implementation and adjudication of University policy
